About the Shrines
"The cure for 21st Century alienation is to invoke the spirits of our past, the cultural icons that once served as totems for entire societies... here made small, into pocket-sized talismans so that you can travel through a cynicized, modernized, streamlined world carrying intricate and arcane enchantment in your hand." - Ankhorite
They started life as candy tins, cigar boxes, watch boxes, or the special holiday gift tins that glut stores in winter. Toy animals, scraps and ephemera, paper and parts, glue and paint fumes.
They're meant to be approachable. Hold them, carry them, and enjoy them.
This madness began a long time ago, when I finished the candy in one of those ubiquitous mint tins and thought, "I could make something from this." So I did. I created the first in Summer of 2007 and have been working ever since.
My traditional work has been going on since who knows when. I've been drawing since I could pick up a pencil.
I'm not currently open to commissions, but I'll post notice when I am.
