Love In A Dream
I met her in Horsefeathers
The second bar on the right
A centauress fair beyond compare
And I knew it was love at first sight
I asked if she'd like to go riding
She laughed and said, "Of course."
So we rode to the woods, she upon four hooves
And me on my trusty grey horse
Don't look for fish in the treetops
Don't look for birds in the stream
Don't look for a dream in a singles bar
And don't look for love in a dream...
Don't look for love in a dream
We spent that evening together
We talked while I played my guitar
The look in her eyes caught me by surprise
As she smiled at me under the stars
She sidled up close beside me
And whispered, "Will you curry me?"
So under the moon, I became her groom
And dreamed of my bridle to be
Don't look for fish in the treetops
Don't look for birds in the stream
Don't look for a dream in a singles bar
And don't look for love in a dream...
Don't look for love in a dream
When I woke up next morning
My lovely centauress was gone
I looked all around, but all I found
Was a note, which I read in the dawn
She'd left me for another
A common tale... but what's worse
The mare left me there in my underwear
And eloped with my trusty grey horse
Don't look for fish in the treetops
Don't look for birds in the stream
Don't look for a dream in a singles bar
And don't look for love in a dream...
Don't look for love in a dream
